Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.
1 Peter 1:3-4

September 1 Niger has experienced some flooding lately in the capital city of Niamey. Many people have lost their homes and some have lost their lives. Pray for those who’ve lost homes and possessions and loved ones, that their needs will be met and that they might find hope in Jesus Christ.

September 2 Today Muslims around the world will be observing Tabaski (or Eid al-Adha). On this day Muslims remember and commemorate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son by slaughtering a ram. For many of our friends and neighbors this ritual sacrifice will be a way by which they hope to earn God’s favor. Pray that they will hear and understand the message of the cross and place their hope instead in the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

September 4 As we celebrate Labor Day weekend in the U.S., pray for our Zerma friends in Niger who are looking for work, that God might open the doors for employment so they can provide for their families.

September 7 and 8 The current Field Personnel Orientation is almost over and for the next two days we will be focused on helping with training the three couples and ten singles who are preparing to go to various countries across the continent of Africa. Pray that there will be good communication and comprehension of the presented material.

September 9 Please pray for medical clearance for Phil and Kimberly as they are eager to return to Niger at the end of September.

September 10 Continue to pray for a good millet harvest in Niger; for adequate rain and protection from insects.

September 12 Pray for patience and perseverance for our colleagues in Niger as they deal with frequent and lengthy power outages.

September 13 Pray for the right apartment situation for Caroline here in Virginia as she is looking at different complexes. Pray for the best situation to be clear as she makes her decision.

September 15 Pray that the peace of Christ would rule in the hearts of Zerma believers, that they would be aware today of God’s absolute faithfulness.

September 16 Thank you for praying for Phil and Caleb’s trip to Dallas last month. Caleb is settling in well at Dallas Baptist University. Pray for his new friendships and opportunities at DBU as he adjusts to his new life at college.

September 20 As God’s Word is proclaimed on radio broadcasts in Niger this month, pray that many would hear and understand the gospel message. Pray that believers will be encouraged and strengthened in their walk with Christ.

September 21 Phil and Kimberly are about to be “empty nesters.” Pray for their adjustment to this new milestone in their lives. Pray for them as they are praying through and thinking about what ministry will look like on the field when they return as a couple and how to invest their time.

September 22 With each rainy season comes an abundance of malaria-carrying mosquitos. Pray for protection against this disease, especially among the children. Pray for those who are suffering now from malaria that they can get the proper medication and be restored to full health.

September 24 Pray for the kids that have attended kids clubs. Pray that they will eagerly return to the clubs once Kimberly has returned to Niger and that they will recall all that they have learned from God’s Word.

September 25 Pray for government leaders and for village chiefs and other traditional leaders of the Zerma. Pray that Jesus would reveal Himself to them and that they would come to know Him not just as a prophet, but as the living Word of God, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

September 26 Pray for the children who come to kids clubs, that their families would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

September 27 Thank you for your prayers for Caroline and her job search. She has been working almost full-time at Chick-Fil-A and recently was hired by Publix for a new store opening in Richmond. Pray that one of these jobs will develop into a full-time job. We’re grateful for God’s provisions for her.

September 29 Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ in the area around Ouallam, that God would bless them and that they will remain faithful to their calling. Pray that they will be bold in sharing their faith.

September 30 There are still many places among the Zerma that have not been touched with the Gospel. Pray that God would send laborers into these harvest fields.
